INTRODUCTION AND INTENT


  • Delhi the Capital of India is one of the greenest metropolitan city in the country where the historical and contemporary ethos merge in unity. Delhi Development Authority (DDA/ Authority) has played a vital role in overall development and management of its green spaces, with conscious efforts towards the development of Regional Parks, Bio Diversity Parks, City Parks, District Parks, green belts and neighborhood greens etc.

  • Delhi Development Authority as a new initiative is organizing a Global Landscape Design Competition for Urban Park-Sector 20, Dwarka, located in the Sub City Dwarka, Delhi.

  • The Competition arises from the need to create quality green space, display native and indigenous plants for the use and enjoyment of the future residents of the sub city with the ambition of becoming a recreational and nature reference for Delhi as a whole. This Park shall characterize the strong urban context for the area to become an iconic and dynamic landmark of one of its own kind, designed to be at or above par with globally benchmarked Urban Parks.

  • The Authority aspires to engage the services of a multidisciplinary team comprising of architects, landscape architects, urban designers, environmentalists, and artists/sculptors etc., to create a vision for the Urban Park-Sector 20, Dwarka.

  • The vision is to embody the latest philosophies of place-making with vibrant futuristic landscape design proposals addressing their different complexities (ethical, aesthetical, functional, ecological, sociocultural, historical, economics etc.) applying innovative and sustainable technologies, humanizing the place and build a stimulating destination for all generations.

  • The ultimate aim is to generate ‘blue sky thinking’ to arrive at creative ideas that are not limited by current thinking or beliefs and shall involve highest quality of design vision and appreciation in order to inspire, execute and engender pride of place both at national and international level.

  • The competition is a two stage competition, where in the first stage the submissions shall clearly define the vision and approach to the design. At Stage-II five shortlisted entrants will provide a more detailed development of their concepts. An eminent Jury Panel will evaluate all Stage-I and Stage-II submissions.
