Athletics Promotion Scheme

• For the first time in the country, DDA has introduced in the year 2001 an Athletics Promotion scheme for Boys and Girls under 16 years of age, later extended to up to 18 year-olds.
  
• DDA launched the scheme under the guidance of Shri Gurbachan Singh Randhawa, the first Arjuna Awardee in Athletics.
• Under this scheme, children who qualify at the selection trials and meets are provided monthly stipend, sports kit and training under expert supervision.
• This scheme has been very successful and the children have excelled in various meets held in Delhi, in other parts of the country and even at the international level.
