Houses were constructed by DDA as per the requirement and purchasing
capacity of different strata of the society. Schemes for various categories
of flats were announced from time to time through advertisements in national
newspapers. Till March 2003, 33 separate housing registration schemes
have been announced. Of these, allotments have been made to the registrants
of 33 schemes. The live schemes are:
A total of 330238 allotments of flats (which includes re-allotment of
surrendered / cancelled flats) have been made till April 2003. These comprised
about 50% flats allotted to economically weaker sections and low-income
groups. Most of the allotted flats have been provided with essential services
like, electricity, water and sewage disposal besides other infrastructural
facilities required to make them habitable.
A total of 23285 registrants are awaiting allotments. These include 7439
registrants of the Janata Housing Scheme - 1996, 11549 registrants of
the New Pattern Housing Scheme - 1979 and the rest 4287 registrants under
the Ambedkar Awas Yojana - 1989.
