About DDA Parks

The City of Delhi, planned and developed by D.D.A., had diverse built heritage and bio-heritage. No doubt, DDA, despite pressures of urbanization and increasing population, has helped retain its grandeur and glory. To-day, if seen aerially, Delhi is an aesthetic amalgamation of a modern city décor with vestiges of the bygone area and huge green spaces. Its green spread is the envy of its visitors and pride of its citizens

Delhi has 17% green which makes it one of the greenest capitals of the world. The total green area of Delhi is approximately 21,544 acres and out of this approximately 12,707 acres i.e., more than 50% is being maintained by DDA in the form of parks, neighbourhood greens, Master Plan greens, biodiversity parks, city forests etc.

With a total of 1079 parks of varying area dispersed all over Delhi, DDA has provided not only green lungs but habitat for birds, flora and fauna which otherwise would have been extinct over a period of time.

The parks developed by DDA can boast of all facilities which help citizens enjoy greens in a healthy way. The parks have children’s corner for children, jogging tracks for morning walkers, benches and shades for elderly and fitness trails for fitness conscious.

Its biodiversity parks at Wazirabad and Vasant Kunj are a repository of bio-tic communities found in the Yamuna bed and Aravali hills. Some of the landmark greens like Indraprastha Park, Swarn Jayanti Park, Chitragupt Park, Astha Kunj, Sanjay Van, Jahapanah City Forest are like oasis in concrete desert.

It is due to the concerted efforts of horticulture department of DDA that Delhi has been able to retain, nurture and maintain its green grandeur and glory despite pressure on its land and other natural resources.
